History:

This service was started somewhere in the year 2000 when I was serving VSNL at Mumbai. The service started with VSNL/Telecom news for my own use, sharing with couple of friends through our corporate e-Mail system.

Subsequently, the service became so popular that persons from whole VSNL Mumbai offices wanted to share the same. In due course of time, one of our CGMs suggested to extend it to all other VSNL branches in India. Later people started calling it ‘Batra News’.

The service was mainly for VSNL employees but some interested persons from other organizations joined through Internet e-Mail. This system of supplying VSNL/Telecom news continues till my retirement (Sep 2002).

 Present service:

The service resumed in Jun 2003 with enhanced scope i.e., covering IT & Telcom sectors. Now the service is not restricted to VSNL employees but extended to one and all in India & abroad. Most of old VSNL associates came to know about the service through word of mouth.

'Update self & update others’ was thought as the mission statement for the free voluntary service from a VSNL man.

The news items are downloaded from the net edition of Economic Times, Business Line, Business Standard & Financial Express. After formatting in a uniform font/size and removing the advertisement, the output file is termed as capsule. The capsule is delivered to all registered users every day through e-Mail.
